Salty Horror Con and Our Anthology Progress

Source: Salty Horror Con Facebook Page

Our chapter participated in the first annual Salty Horror Con last weekend. The Salty Horror Film Festival has gone on for a few years now, but this was the first year a vendor room and panel discussions were added.

The fledgling con has some kinks to work out; many of them associated with marketing. But, the panels were fun and we connected with a handful of horror writers. Highlights from the panels included a mini-screening of clips from the film L.A. Slasher, a performance by comedy hypnotist John Moyer, and a Salty Horror edition of Choose Your Own Apocalypse--an interactive storytelling game.

In other news, members from our chapter are putting together a dark western anthology called "Old Scratch and Owl Hoots: A Collection of Utah Horror." They've finished choosing stories from an awesome group of submissions and are currently selling pre-orders of the anthology which is due to be published in January by Griffin Publishers. You can get your pre-order for $6.66--half off the suggested retail price--until October 31st.

  1. Hi there. I'm an HWA associate member hailing out of Cedar City. I'd really love to workshop some stuff with you guys, especially since it's hard to find people who write/read horror in the Southern Utah area. Any chance we could do something via email?
